Catherine E. Saxion
September 3, 1923 – November 9, 2018
Catherine Elizabeth Saxion (nee Robinson), 95, of Sea Girt, died Friday, November 9, 2018 at home. Born and raised in Wall Twp., she moved to Sea Girt 66 years ago.
Mrs. Saxion was a former member of the West Belmar United Methodist Church, where she began teaching Sunday school while in her ‘teens as well as playing the church organ. Mrs. Saxion was a faithful member of Manasquan United Methodist Church, where she was active for many years in the choir and serving with the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Saxion worked as a dental assistant and school crossing guard. She was a long-time volunteer at Sea Girt Elementary School where she shared her creativity and love for writing. Mrs. Saxion was an author, poet, artist, and designer of dolls and critters. In addition to Come, Run With Me she wrote The Disappearing Cat, a story that has been shared with generations of fifth grade students. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker, devoted to her family, and will be missed by many.
Mrs. Saxion was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard in 2013 as well as 5 siblings. She is survived by her son Richard and his wife Patricia of Wall Twp, 2 daughters, Marjorie Frazee and her husband Donald of Manasquan and Nancy Morris and her husband David of Allenwood, 3 grandchildren, Mark, Michael, and Rachel, 2 great grandchildren, Olivia and Grace, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Manasquan United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 12 pm. Interment will follow in the church’s Memorial Garden. The Neary Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manasquan United Methodist Church Trustees Endowment Fund.
