George Edward Minier
February 22, 1926 – March 15, 2018
George Edward Minier, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2018. He was born in 1926 at home on East Main Street Manasquan and spent his life there, happily giving unconditional love to his family and service to his beloved community.
George owned and operated George E. Minier Plumbing and Heating before retiring in his late 70's. He was a 1944 graduate of Manasquan High School and a WWII Navy veteran, serving on the Franklin D. Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier as well as a Destroyer Escort. He was a member of the Manasquan Elks, First Aid, and Historical Society. George was a Chaplain of Manasquan VFW Post 1838, a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and longest serving, proud life member of Manasquan Engine Company #2. He was honored to be Grand Marshall of the 2013 Manasquan Memorial Day Parade.
George Minier was predeceased by his parents George and Minnie, his sister Ellen, and the love of his life, wife Doris. He is survived by his children Jacqueline Stein, Thomas Jones, and Elizabeth Riva; his grandsons Justin Riva and Daniel George Stein, great granddaughter Natasha Riva and his nieces and nephews. George was greatly loved and will be missed by all his family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4-8 at the Neary Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street Manasquan, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Manasquan. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle NJ. Flags in Manasquan will be flown at half staff in honor of George. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Manasquan or Manasquan Engine Co #2.
