February 26, 1939 – October 2, 2018
Howard Jost, 79, of Wall Twp., passed away peacefully on October 2, 2018. He was born February 26, 1939 in Long Island, NY. He graduated from Sayville High School on Long Island and joined the Air Force. After serving for four years, he returned to live in New Jersey. In 1965, Howard met (and instantly fell in love with) Marilyn Jo Williams while they were bowling with mutual friends. They married soon after. Howard and Marilyn were lucky to spend 52 years together, raising their two sons in Manasquan.
Howard worked for many years at Jost's garage in Wall. He was an expert at finding and fixing things large and small, from lamps and antiques for Marilyn's business to a vintage car. Howard was especially supportive of his sons, finding time for bowling, tree forts, baseball, family vacations and other adventures despite his busy work. Howard loved his family and was happiest when at home, surrounded with bustle, projects, and home cooking. Although we will miss him dearly, we are grateful that Howard is now reunited with Marilyn after only a few months.
Howard is survived by his sons, Dan and Dave; daughter-in-law, Shannon; nephews, John Kane and Louis Kane and his family; and many Jost cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:30am at Manasquan United Methodist Church, 23 Church St. Manasquan, NJ. It was so good to see you Howie, on our last trip to NJ. Thank you for going out of your way to make sure I had a picture of our grandparents. So many good memories from when I lived in Wall. I'm sorry I never got to meet your boys.
