Maureen Dolores Dornau
July 15, 1938 – March 8, 2020
Maureen D. Dornau, 81, of Brielle, died Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born in the Bronx, she lived on Long Island for many years, before moving to the Jersey Shore.
While living on Long Island, she managed a liquor distribution business. In New Jersey, Mrs. Dornau enjoyed working as a sales associate in Peddler’s Village, Wall Township until it closed. In her later years, she spent her time volunteering at the Visiting Nurses Association, where she was awarded for her hours of dedication. She enjoyed engaging with the public and helping people. She lived a healthy active lifestyle, which included traveling, boating, and skiing at Okemo, Vt.
Maureen is predeceased by her parents, Julia and Harry Smith and her brother, Joseph Smith. She is survived by her beloved husband Ronald of 35 years and her three children. Her daughter, Kim Sikowitz and husband Dr. David Sikowitz (Wall, NJ), son, Bruce Mangio (New York City, NY) and son, Craig Mangio and wife Debbie Mangio (Massapequa, NY) all loved her very much. She adored her four grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, CJ and Jake. She spent as much time with them as she could. Her step-children are Carloee Dornau, Ron Dornau with wife Alysia and children Connor and Caitlyn, and Barbra Dornau all of New York. Her surviving siblings are Harry Smith (Spring Lake Heights, NJ) and Julia Lopomo (Wall, NJ).
Cremation was private. The Neary Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St. Manasquan, NJ was entrusted with her arrangements. Donations can be made in Maureen’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N.
