Michael Christopher Richert, Jr., 13, of North Brunswick, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York City, NY after winning this battle with Medulla Blastoma and AML Leukemia three times. Mikey was born in Edison and grew up in North Brunswick.

Mikey was an old soul with a loving and contagious sense of humor. He had a love for animals and adored his dogs, Reina, Lulu, and Louis. He enjoyed silly cartoons like Bob's Burgers and Adventure time. He had a passion for drawing and had an extremely creative mind. He spent a lot of time building Legos and other figures.

Mikey lived the life of a teenager, staying up until 2am playing video games such as Destiny and Rainbow Six Siege with his brother Melvin, and friends Morgan and Nico. One of Mikey's favorite past times was watching Star Wars movies and he always looked forward to the new movies coming out.

Every year he looked forward to attending Comic-Con with his friends and family. He was an honorary member of the Mandolorians and dressed up with them for all of the cons that he could attend. He loved his sports teams and never missed an opportunity to attend Knicks and Yankee games.

For anyone who knew Mikey, he will forever be remembered as the domino king!

I had the pleasure of meeting Mikey and his family only once at a North Myrtle Beach vacation. He was such a sweet, good-looking child and it was obvious that the family was a family of love. Shortly after that, Mikey and his family received the grim news of his cancer. They have all been in my thoughts and prayers during this terrible time. Although his life was too short, he will be long remembered and respected for how he fought this terrible disease. Rest in peace Mikey as you join your father and grandmother in your heavenly home.
