Ray King passed away on December 6, 2018 in his home in Manasquan. Ray was the son of the late Eleanor and the late Rodney King and grew up in Queens Village NY and Freehold NJ. Ray with Marian (née Zytko) his beloved wife of 27 years, raised their boys Adam (St. Joseph’s University) and Dan (Rutgers New Brunswick) in Jackson NJ, then moved to their beloved newly-adopted community of Manasquan in 2014. Ray was the adored eldest brother of Suzanne DeGrande (Peter), Mark King (Joann), Bernadette King, Georgette Tucholski (Tom). And highly-regarded brother-in-law to Stan and Cindy Zytko, Vicki and Mike Patterson, Tom and Donna Zytko, and Rich and Shirley Zytko. Ray was the loving Uncle of Ryan (Saadiya), Giovanni, Luciana, Matthew, Michael, Danielle (Kent), Kelly, Jonathan, Doug, Greg (Emily), Christopher (Samantha), Jennifer, Alex, Corey, Drew, and Kara. He was also the proud Great-Uncle of Zara and Luke. Ray served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and Rutgers School of Law. In 1991 Ray co-founded the law firm of King, Kittrick, Jackson, and McWeeney. Ray volunteered for many civic duties including: President of 60 Acre Reserve Board of Trustees where he met Marian in 1989; Strategist for the Jackson Democratic Club, member of the Jackson Historical Society and of Friends of Monmouth Battlefield. Ray also co-founded and was Treasurer of the Monsignor Donovan Griffin Basketball Association. Ray coached and managed countless Jackson Little League teams; and sat on the Board for the Jackson Little League. He liked nothing better than coaching Adam and Dan in their various sports, and later watching and cheering them on from the sidelines on their high school and college teams. With his adored sons, his brother and nephews Ray loved to cheer on Arsenal FC from afar and from within Emirates Stadium, London. He also cherished his dogs Dewey, Whiskey and the late Cobi who were his constant companions. If you knew Ray you knew his passions were history, politics, golf, reading, bantering, but most of all, his family. Ray was funny...very dry funny...if you didn't know him...and his delivery...you'd have to think twice...until you realize...he just 'got you'! Honest and trustworthy...reasonable...tough as nails...all in the same package as a truly brilliant and accomplished lawyer. I passed the old office on Union today and memories poured out. If I ever had a question on a legal issue...call and discuss with Ray...he was always there. Need an expert...Ray who do you use and why? He always came through. From kids to how many houses will be built in Jackson...to recent hugs in the parking lot at Comp court...love you, miss you...Rest in Peace...you have always been a great friend and a great man...a great role model!

I always enjoyed talking to Ray when we frequently ran into each other in court and sometimes had trials together, occasionally on the same side and sometimes as adversaries. I have fond memories of those meetings. May Ray Rest In Peace.
