OBITUARY

Vera Helen Gangemi

June 12, 1932November 14, 2020

Vera Helen Gangemi, 88, of Red Bank, NJ, peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020. “Veezee” was the oldest child of Raymond Van Nostrand and Mary Van Nostrand (nee Tarby). She was born in Seaford, NY and raised in Jersey City, NJ where she graduated high school and met her future husband Anthony. They were married in 1954 and started married life in Teaneck, NJ before moving to Monmouth County (Holmdel and then Rumson) where they raised their six children. Vera was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Mary Van Nostrand; her son, Anthony “Dukie” Gangemi, and her husband Anthony Francis Gangemi. She is survived by her brother Raymond Van Nostrand, Jr., five children; Jeannine, Lauren (Bob Hayden), Linda (Michael DeGrande), William “Billy” and Thomas “TJ” (Jennifer), ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Vera was an exceptionally loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest passion was being with her family and friends. Vera loved Jesus and serving in his Kingdom, she also enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. Vera was the accountant for the family business and also worked in interior design as well as a travel agent. She was a devoted Christian and active member of Holy Cross Church in Rumson. She was and will remain the spiritual guiding light of our family.
