D. Dottie Allard, 86, a resident of the Hillsborough County Nursing Home and formerly of Calef Rd., Manchester died January 10, 2011 at Catholic Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Eldorado, IL on April 17, 1924 the youngest of six children of James and Zilpha (Shane) Lassater.
She was raised in Eldorado and was a graduate of Eldorado Township High School. Mrs. Allard has resided in Manchester since 1948. She worked for many years at Waumbec Mills and following her retirement she was employed at Velcro USA until 1989.
She loved to travel to Old Orchard Beach, ME and enjoyed the surf and sand at the ocean. She was known for love of cooking and her healthy appetite. Above all else, was her devotion and love of her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Cote of South Easton, MA and Pamela McGuire of Manchester; a grandson, Charles Burke III of Florence, KY and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family extends their gratitude to Dr. Paula Leonard Schwartz for her dedicated care as well as the care given by the staff of Hillsborough County Home over the years and the staff of Catholic Medical Center in her final hours.
Calling hours were held on Saturday from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. A funeral ceremony followed at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Rev. Douglas Rickard will officiate. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery.
