Janet Klein Martone, 88, of Rye, NH, died on August 22, 2019 at Evolve at Rye, a memory care center. She was born in Springfield MA on November 18, 1930, the daughter of Iola and Nicholas Klein. She grew up in East Longmeadow MA and was a graduate of the High School of Commerce in 1948. She married Gaetano Martone in June 1957 and made their home in Westfield MA. In 1965, she started a career in real estate in West Springfield, and in 1970, opened Martone and Co. RE in Westfield.. She was also the President of the Board of Realtors in the area. Janet was a longtime active member of the First Congregational Church where she attended and taught Sunday School.

In 1984, she and her husband moved to Charlotte NC where she worked for Tate and Co. until her retirement at age 76. Janet was very active with The Italian Club of Charlotte and with the Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was a YMCA member and enjoyed water aerobics three times a week.

She loved getting together at her home with family and friends where all were welcomed with open arms. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Guy Martone in 2007 and her two sisters; Leona Cosby and Lucille St. Marie. Members of her family include her son Thomas Martone and his life partner Patricia Rowell, her daughter Lori Martone and son-in-law Steven Smith, and son Jonathan Martone, daughter-in-law Lauren Remick Martone and granddaughter Sara Martone, her sisters Christine Millen, Joyce Fraser and brother Robert Klein.

Calling hours were on Sunday, September 1 from 4:00-5:00PM, with a Celebration of Life ceremony from 5:00-6:00PM at the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester.
