OBITUARY

Allan R Redman

January 31, 1931December 27, 2012

Allan Ray Redman, age 81 of Horseshoe Bay passed away Thursday December 27, 2012 at home, having spent the Christmas holidays with all his family.

Allan was born January 31, 1931 in Shawano, Wisconsin. He grew up in this small town and was quite the celebrated student having played just about every sport the school had. In 1948, he was selected to participate in the Badger Boys State program and represented Wisconsin as a “mock” Governor. During that week he met President Harry Truman. As an accomplished athlete, he went on to Ripon College on an athletic scholarship until the onset of the Korean War. Enlisting in the US Air Force, Al served our country for 28 years. He retired as a Lt. Colonel and a disabled veteran earning the bronze star and many other accolades.

During those first years in the military he met his lovely bride, Marilyn Kunes. They spent 57 wonderful years together raising their 4 children and traveling all over the United States and Canada. Al also went to Thailand during the Vietnam War. Even though he had many accomplishments as a student and in his career, the one accomplishment that meant everything to him was his family. He loved his four children and five grandchildren more than anything in his life. He knew the best decision he ever made was to move to Horseshoe Bay where he could celebrate life to the fullest. Everyone wanted to come and see mom and dad, especially the grandkids, who never grew tired of fun in the lake country. He could also play a lot of golf, which he never got enough of.

Al was preceded in death by his parents Hattie and Carl Redman, four sisters and two brothers. His beautiful wife, Marilyn, survives him. His surviving children are: daughter Lisa and husband Rusty Breshears of San Antonio, son Bill Redman of San Antonio, daughter Debbie and husband Jon Lindholm of San Antonio, and daughter Lynn and husband Chris Cage of Austin. The grandchildren he was so proud of are Anthony Redman, Jessica Gonzales, Taylor Breshears, Meagan Lindholm and Eric Lindholm.

Memorial Services will be at St. Paul the Apostle Chapel in Horseshoe Bay on Saturday, January 5th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Al’s favorite charities, the St. Paul the Apostle Church Building Fund or the Salvation Army.

Condolences may be offered at www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com

Arrangements are under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Marble Falls.

I'm so sorry to have found this announcement. Al and my dad, Charles Baxter, served in the Air Force together. Back in the late 1990's, I was able to meet Al and Marilyn when my dad and I travelled to San Antonio on a business trip. All our best to Marilyn and the rest of the family. Bless you all!

You were so much fun and we will miss you so much. We thank you for taking us to every fun event we ever wanted to go to, taking me and my friends water skiing, always being there to fix anything that needed fixing, sitting with us watching movies and eating "pupcorn" and basically just being there for us. We will miss poker, card games, and the way you lit up when you always won lotto. You will never be forgotten- Love you so much- Jon, Deb, and Eric
