Jennie Lee Womack
October 5, 1923 – March 9, 2020
Jennie Lee Womack, 96 years of age, passed away March 9, 2020.
The oldest of 7 siblings, Jennie was the first (and only one in her family) to graduate high school, a 1941 graduate of Louise High School.
Jennie would share stories of how she enjoyed visiting the Austin state Capitol, playing softball, and roller skating in her youth.
After her sweetheart deployed to Europe to serve in WWII, this very capable young lady soon found herself raising three small children. She was also left managing an apartment complex to keep the wheels turning, in what was known back then as a man’s world. A woman ahead of her time.
As she shared stories from the Great Depression and rationing days of WWII, Jennie was clearly no stranger to hard work and sacrifice. Before recycling and “green living” were popular, she taught her children & grandchildren to responsibly recycle and reuse before tossing anything to waste. Coupons, sales, and saving pennies were core values passed down by Jennie to the younger generation.
If asked what she did as a homemaker, Jennie would tell you, “As a housewife, I did everything!” From sewing, to cooking and cleaning, and caring for her loved ones. She seldom measured any ingredients in her kitchen and knew most of her recipes by heart.
Always laughing and giving back to others, Jennie cherished her volunteer work with friends and patients at Alvin Memorial Hospital. She loved going to church, teaching her Sunday School Class and taking care of others in need.
She taught her grandchildren the simple pleasures of life, like fishing for crawdads and spending time together.
Jennie is preceded in death by her father & mother (George & Thelma Roller), her loving husband (Kenneth Rex Womack), and her son (Phillip Womack).
Jennie has left a legacy of love to 2 living children (Bessie Wallace, daughter and Kenneth Womack, son & wife) 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and 4 siblings.
Numerous other family members and friends mourn the loss of Jennie, yet rejoice in her well-lived life. We all give thanks to Jennie, for blessing us with her gifts. For inspiring us to honor our Heavenly Father and our great country, while sharing love, kindness, and grace with one another.

I remember, many summer days staying the day at Great Grandmas. Spending the day watching good ole' bunny ears TV, and playing outside. The many times of visiting out in the country.. she will be remembered. - Justin Womack Jr.
