My Mom and I were just talking about Peggy Francis last week because my Mom went to school with Peggy and my Dad was in her same graduation class. My Mom played tennis at that time as well. She was a kind and lovely person and we are sorry to hear she passed. May she Rest In Peace. 🙏

She was an awesome example, in how she treated her student athletes. I never excelled in any sport yet took PE three of my four years in high school at Eastwood.

I loved Mrs. Birkhead. I ran in to her at a friend's home at Christmas time after I was married and was a new mother. She always had a way of making all her students feel important and that night was no different. She was warm and friendly and truly interested in my life. I will never forget the influence she had on me...

Peggy was my teacher but many thought she was my mother. ( and I would have loved her as such). Her beautiful smile and great attitude are two qualities I tried to incorporate into my career as a P..E. teacher/coach. She will be greatly missed.

This woman was a beautiful source of light in my life. Awkward me always felt special in her presence. That’s because her nurturing nature allowed her to become a mirror that reflected light - on me. Rest awhile Mrs. Birkhead. Trooper Clap!

I was in the first graduating class of Eastwood High School (1965) and Peggy Birkhead was not only my tennis coach but was the best teacher/coach/mentor I ever had in school. She was so patient, understanding, and a wonderful coach and role model. I was so very fortunate to be able to reconnect with Peggy over the last 2 or 3 years and met she and her family for lunch 4 or 5 times and over all of these years, she never changed...her sweetness was ever present. I know she's in a better place and my thoughts and condolences go to her family who I know loved her dearly. Goodbye Peggy, maybe we'll meet on the court again some day...
Most sincerely, Dennis

Peggy was a dedicated teacher who knew how to approach her students with compassion and understanding. It was an honor to have shared time with Peggy at Eastwood High.
Thanks Peggy for good memories.
