I was blessed to have met and had Vernell's childhood friend, Charles B. Raynes in my life before his passing of cancer in 2005. From that wonderful union, I gained an additional blessing and that was having gotten to know and love Vernell. Although we weren't able to see each other often, we always stayed in contact over the years. She was so helpful in seeing me through my grief and I hope I was able to give her some help when she loss Sonny and Laura. She loved her family so very much and praised you all. Please know just how much happiness you were to her. I felt like I knew you all personally as we would talk for hours and I got caught up in all the "family news". She was such a strong and courageous person, you were blessed to have her for a mother. I miss her so much, but we'll talk again. Kathleen Govett

Words are not adequate enough to express our sympathy to all of you during this difficult time of loss. It was an honor getting to know your family and your sweet mother will be deeply missed by so many. She touched so many of our lives here at Visiting Angels. I know the Lord had it all planned out and Antoinette, I felt like you and I were lifelong friends before we ever even met. I hope you and your family know how much all of you mean to us. God Bless each one of you.

She exists still in you and in the memories you have. We say, "Panopano Hilo, po'ele i ka ua nui"--Hilo is dark and heavy with rain, we mourn with you here and wish you "God Speed".

I know Vernell Anthony only through the beauty, presence and compassion I find in her daughter Antoinette, and am deeply grateful for her existence in my life. I am sending love and caring to all of her family, and this morning I am going out under bright and cold skies and releasing a flock of white homing doves to honor her, and you all.

I remember Aunt Vernell from many years ago. I know Daddy (Claude Cotten) loved her too. I know he would be saddened to know she is gone. Daddy will probably be with her soon! My heart and prayers are with you all!!

Mike and I say goodbye to te last of the Bedford moms and dads. What fun we all had! Bill could play the piano by ear and all the kids were so much fun. I rmember Bill riding a skateboard and thinking of how well he did for being so old. I think he must have been in his forties. I remeber sitting in your kitchen with Mother (Paola Brenneman) and Vernell when we discoverd that Mom thought the saying "Happy as a Lark" was actually "Happy as a Lard" because of the way the grease popped in the skillet!! I can still hear your mom's laugh. She was trully beautiful and she had beautiful children. Always remember you had the good parts of both Bill and Vernell and our will always be treasures. With Love Brenda Brenneman Nance.

Vernell was a delightful and charming neighbor on our street at Lake LBJ. It was always a pleasure for Cyndi and me to visit with her. We will miss her personality and willingness to help improve the neighborhood.
