Emeline Duggan

Emeline (McCune) Duggan, 95, of Marblehead, passed away on June 4, 2018. She was the wife of the late Vincent J. Duggan and the mother of the late Dennis P. Duggan. Born in Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Anna (Francis) McCune.

Raised and educated in Marblehead Emeline was a graduate of Marblehead High School and Bryant and Stratton College. Emeline was one of the first female licensed insurance brokers. She enjoyed her job in Boston and luncheons at the Ritz Carlton.

Together with Vin they too ran the family business, Duggan Fuel. A crackerjack with numbers, Vin delivered the oil and she did the books. She and Vin would often drive to Ohio on weekends to watch Dennis play football at Marietta College. Emeline and Vin traveled to over thirty countries after his retirement. They especially enjoyed their many trips to Maui and their home in Naples, Florida where they could always be found at the beach or pool.

She had a passion for reading and read thousands of books in her lifetime. “Emmy” had a long and gifted life and will be remembered my many.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Clark of Gloucester; a nephew, Walter A. Costello Jr. of Swampscott; and five nieces, Katherine A. Dusombre of FL, Denise McKee of Woburn, Joyce (Duggan) Driscoll of Reading, Diane Canty of Marblehead, and Donna McCune of Wenham. She was also the sister of the late Charles McCune.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead on Monday, June 11 at 11AM with burial to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Visitation will be held in the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead prior to the service beginning at 10AM.
