Karen E. Backes, a.k.a Grandma, was a very special soul. She was such a giver, and she appreciated the little things in life. Grandma was extremely creative, always making something it seemed. She often sewed me quilts and even purchased me a sewing machine so I could learn from her. Grandma was a role model--she inspired me so much. It was amazing that she was so active, always caught up in her hobbies or catching up with friends. Every moment spent with her will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace and hold my love forever.

There are a lot of memories working with Karen and all the rushed Fridays I didn't think we would all make it through the day sometimes but we made it ok as usual. Was nice meeting Karen and the girls from Arnolds for breakfast once in a while too when we could make it.

Our Condolences from Darrell and Liz Rogers

Karen and I have been friends about 30 years. We worked together at Arnolds. And oh boy Karen did we work hard, Oh those Fridays!!!!. Karen and I went to garage sales together to concerts together, and craft shows together. When ever we would see something at a craft show we really liked we would look at each other and say We can make that ourselves!! and then crack up laughing cause we knew we would never make it. Karen was a special friend. She was a very kind, warm caring person who was always there to help if you needed help. Rest in peace my friend, no more pain for you. You will truly be missed
