I first met Al 24 yrs ago when my son Eric joined Troop 1011. I was priviledged to work with him as one of several Asst Scoutmasters there. I will always remember the many great times we had. It is an honor to have known him.

My sincere condolences to Alan and Kebin's family. My friendship with Mr. Friel was a treasure. In our family, just mentioning the "Scout Hut" covers a lot of memories which live on today. Such a gentle and caring man. I appreciate you sharing your Dad with us all. Mr. Friel was a great Scout!

Al was a great friend and advisor. He was a great leader teaching Outdoors Skills at Bert Adams. He let me drive his "Friel Mobile" while I worked at Bert Adams. He enjoyed working with Venture Crew 29 and going to Winterfest. I am glad to have seen him at Bert Adams this Summer. We have lost a Great Scout.

I am so honored to have known Al Friel in my life. My Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America is in large part because of the love he had for me, and in so allowing me to build a memorial to his departed wife Helen as my Eagle project. My experiences in Troop 1011, and all of the life lessons that he imparted will be with me for my entire life. I am the man I am today in large part because of his influence, and I am enternally greatful.

My deepest condolences to Mr. Friel's family. I met and worked with Mr. Friel starting back in 1977 with Cummins South. I always found Mr. Friel to be a good, honest, and fair man and always had a humoras view about everything. He touched many of our lives @ work.

Mr. Friel (I still can't call him Al even 25 years later) was a wonderful man and great Scout Master. He touched many lives and helped lead boys to become better men. He is loved by many and will be sorely missed. The Lord has a special place for men like him. Thank you for all of your time, patience, character, commitment and love.
