Lupe was born in Rankin, Texas to the parents of Casimiro Castillo and Epolita Rodriquez. was a homemaker and cared for the 4 generations that followed her. They are very thankful for this and loved her dearly for it. Lupe was an excellent cook and baker. She frequently would prepare food for her community, such as her homemade tamales, which she had become famous for. She inspired many of her family members, whom she taught herself, to share her love for food. She not only nourished her family with food, but also with the wisdom she acquired throughout the years.
Lupe is preceded in death by her parents, Casimiro Castillo and Epolita Rodriquez; daughter, Pauline Mena; son, Angel; grandson, Albert; and her husband(s), Robert Hernandez and Raymond Gonzales.
She was survived by her sister, Virgina Castillo; son, Robert Hernandez; son Johnny Rodriguez and his wife Linda; daughter, Martha Welch and her husband Scott; and daughter, Dora Garcia. Lupe had a total of 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces/nephews.
