Ronald Lee Haptonstall, 85, of Marlin, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in Waco, Texas. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas.
Mr. Haptonstall was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on December 26, 1933 to Clyde C. Haptonstall and Ruth Poling Haptonstall. Ronald graduated from West Virginia University with a Masters in Social Work and dedicated his life to helping our nation’s veterans during his career as Chief of Social Work Services in the VA hospitals in Martinsburg, WV and in Marlin, until his retirement in 1999. He was active in the Marlin community for many years as a member of the Marlin chapter of Lions Club International and by managing the operation of the community swimming pool until its closure.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Ruth Haptonstall and his wife Patty J. Haptonstall.
He is survived by his sons Marcus Haptonstall (and his wife June), of Azle, TX., and Roger Haptonstall of Bremond, TX.; his granddaughters Laura Miller (and her husband Matthew) and Rachel Neal (and her husband Andrew) both of Fort Worth; and grandson Steven Haptonstall; and his great-grandsons Ethan and Elijah Miller and Hudson Neal.
