Caroline was born December 2, 1931 in Salem, Massachusetts, daughter of Caroline Townsend Perkins
and Norman Ulysses Armour. She was a graduate of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts. After graduation, Caroline lived and worked in the Washington DC area where she met and married the love of her life, Frederick Peter "Ted" Longeway on December 5, 1970. Caroline and Ted lived and worked in Washington DC when they built a weekend getaway in Hedgesville, West Virginia in the early 70’s; this is where they ultimately retired. Caroline worked as Special Assistant to the Director of Communications at AARP National Headquarters in Washington, DC for nearly 30 years. She had an incredible sense of humor and exuded kindness and good nature to all she met; she also had many friends who considered her a sister or a second mother. Caroline will be remembered for her love of the beach and ocean (particularly the coast of Maine), as well as gardening, her love of animals, and her many close and loyal friendships.
Caroline is predeceased by her loving husband Frederick Peter Longeway, her sister Beverly Armour
Miller, her brother Norman E. Armour, her stepson Peter J. Longeway and granddaughter Stephanie
Longeway Celestin.
