I really didn't get to know my Uncle Bernie as a child, other than the normal family get together's. During those he always expressed love for us. It wasn't until about a year ago that I came to know more about him. I was born an artist, and always wondered where my talents came from. The last time I seen him we talked at length about art and what we were both into, we automatically made a connection and I finally knew we were connected on a much deeper level. Phone calls took place afterwards, and I am so grateful he extended a hand to get to know me better. It truly touched my heart. I just wish the connection had been made much sooner. Uncle Bernie, I won't be there today due to my heart issues but I will be there in spirit and love for you and all our family. Fly high, and I can't wait til we are reunited.

Bernie was a good ol boy who loved a good joke and appreciated everyone. He always wanted to know how everything was going and what I had been up to. He will be missed but always loved. Thanks for everything Bernie, you and your family helped me more than you know.

I always looked forward to seeing Uncle Bernie when I was growing up. He had always struck me, and continues to strike me, as a remarkable, cheerful, wise, and all around amazing man. Whether inquiring, with genuine interest, what games we kids were playing, what we wanted to grow up to be, we were always happy to get to spend time with him. He could be painting beautiful art, or just lovingly supporting his family; Uncle Bernie will always be remembered as a compassionate and soulful person. And he will be dearly missed by his surviving family, friends, and community.
