Charles R Tollison of Grantville, Ga passed away peacefully on the last day of March 2021. Charles was born in Anderson, SC to the late Richard and Frances Tollison. Charles volunteered to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force and then had a 35 year career as a communications technician with AT&T. He loved football and was a Georgia Bulldog season ticket holder for many years. Charles enjoyed reading and traveling and was an original CB radio enthusiast. His favorite thing in the world to do was going on cruises with his beloved wife Claire. Together they ventured to multiple ports-of-call and exotic locales. They also served together as faithful members of Lord of Life Lutheran Church for over 34 years. When Claire's health began to fail, Charles assumed the role of caregiver until her passing in 2019. After 48 years together on this earth they get to spend their 50th anniversary together in heaven! Charles has left an example for his son Tommy (Christina) Jenkins and daughter Peggy (Jim) Wainright to live out and pass on. Others who are keeping Charles' memory alive include his sister Carole (Tom) Wiggins, grandsons Michael (Desiree) Simpson and Bobby (Kristen) Ingram, granddaughter Shelby Jenkins, great grandchildren Allie Rose, Mikaela, Landon and Corbin, along with his nephew Chad (Andrea) Carpenter, niece Brandy Sullivan and great nieces and nephew Madison Grace, Isabella Kate and William Lawrence. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 5, 2021 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Ga at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends 11:00 am until service time. I can’t even believe that I will never have another talk with Charlie. I was lucky enough to have Charlie as a wonderful, wonderful friend for I don’t know how many years. We were cubicle buddies at AT&T which started a life long friendship. I am so sad that his is gone from this world but so very happy that he is now with the love of his life, Claire.

Charles' daughter, Peggy, and I have been friends for about 6 years. I met Charles through her at birthday celebrations over the years. He was always such a sweet person. We met again when Claire passed two years ago. A very sad day for him and his family. Then last year we met again in a most unlikely place: we were both getting chemotherapy at the same time ! I was amazed at the coincidence and that we shared the same oncologist.
I had to pull my mask down so he could see my face. His eyes smiled in recognition before his mouth did. After all the years of chemo he'd been through, he was still so mentally sharp ! This kind and gentle man will sorely be missed. Rest in peace with Claire and Jesus Christ, Charles. 💜🙏✝️

Charles and his wife were both the most kind hearted people to me growing up. I came to know them both well through Lord Of Life Lutheran Church. Every Sunday both would always make time to come talk to me and would always take interest in the extra curricular activities I had going on throughout my childhood. Pot luck Sundays will always remain special, because Claire made the yummiest food. I eventually went off to college, got married, and had children of my own baptized at the church, and when I moved away, Charles and Claire still kept in contact with me. I am saddened today as I read this news, but I know both are at peace together and that makes me smile. My condolences and may family and friends find peace in this time of loss.
