Mildred (Mooring) Grether, 84, of McDonough, Georgia was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 15, 2020. She was born on April 15, 1936 to Daniel and Nellie Mooring in Kinston, North Carolina. At the age of 16, Mildred met the love of her life on a blind date, Charles, a handsome Marine. They were married for the next 50 years until he passed away. She often spoke of how she prayed for six children and God blessed her with six children. Most of all, Mildred loved and adored her family...they were her world. Mildred loved family game nights and enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She treated everyone like family. Her smile was contagious and her hugs were even better. She had so much love in her heart. Mildred had a long-standing relationship with God and she was a faithful servant of Community Out Team, the outreach ministries of Community Bible Church. She was known as “Mom” to many in the homeless community. Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Charles Russell Grether, Jr., parents Daniel and Nellie Mooring, her sister Edna Ruth and her brothers Roy, William and Carl. This gentle, loving, caring, wonderful woman has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be missed by her sisters, Vivian Jones and Mary Duzan; her six children, Wanda Fick (& Larry Sr.), Wayne Grether, Glenn Grether (& Pat), Debbie Burt, Pam Miczuga and Karen Nielsen (& Paul); her 16 grandchildren; her 35 great grandchildren and her 5 great great grandchildren. Mildred will also be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All are welcome for Visitation to take place at Haisten Funeral Home, 1745 S. Zack Hinton Parkway in McDonough, Georgia (770-914-8833) on Friday, May 22 from 10:00 am – Noon. Please bring your own mask for safety reasons. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Atlanta, Georgia. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate Mildred's life and find comfort that she is in heaven. Well done, thy good and faithful servant.

I will never forget how much love and care shes given me . Her love was so strong that it touched the whole family and everyone around her . Every time seeing her laugh and smile gave me happiness and always welcome to be there . She was goofy and hilarious, sweet and caring, and never wanted drama, only peace and love no matter what. I know shes in a happy place now but she will forever be with me . Love you & miss you so much Nana 🦋💗

My Aunt Mildred was one of the kindest people in my life. As her nephew growing up I will always remember having to go give her a "little sugar" when we arrived that often was followed with a reminder how much Jesus loves me. When I think back on what I will remember most is her unshakable faith and her love for Jesus. It must have been an amazing arrival in Heaven with a whole lot of "sugar" to go around!

Our beautiful grandmother. I'll never forget the first time she reached out to me and a few weeks later was my birthday. She called just to sing me Happy Birthday. Or her welcoming my children even my step kids I think of as my own, into her home. And the spaghetti dinner and my two youngest loving her walker. Heaven gained a beautiful angel, a dear friend and grandmother.
