80 of Richmond, Va. went to be with the Lord and her family, in eternal peace, on Saturday night, February 16, 2019, at VCU Hospital, Richmond, Va. Ann was born on Friday, January 13, 1939, at the family farm “Old Virginia,” on the Pamunkey River in King William County, Virginia, but she was raised on “Ancarrow Farm” on the Pamunkey River at Hanover Courthouse, Virginia.
She was Miss Hanover County & graduated from Washington Henry High School, where she was a cheerleader. She then attended Richmond Professional Institute, now VCU. She modeled for Miller & Rhoads Department Store and Thalhimers Department Store & also taught dancing at Arthur Murray Studios. She was employed for Alcoa Aluminum for many years until she quit to raise her family. She & her husband owned Shepardson Mechanical Corporation, where she served as Secretary & Treasurer until they both retired.
She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas James “Jamie” Shepardson, her parents, Maude Kelley Ancarrow & William Archie Ancarrow, her sister, Anita Ancarrow Garber, two brothers, William Ronald & Dalton William Ancarrow & her niece Lisa Ancarrow Boinest.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving & beloved husband of 54 years, Thomas James “Shep” Shepardson, Sr., her daughter, Ann Elizabeth “Lesly” Love (Steve), her granddaughter, Riley Ancarrow Love, her sister, Mary Sue Ancarrow-Day (Ronny), her nephew, Thomas Joel “TJ” Phillips, III, her great nephew, Thomas Joel “Jody” Phillips, IV & her two cousins, Joni Norman Gantt & Charles Edward Lee.
Ann loved animals, flowers, antiques, the ocean & the simple things in life, like spending time with her family. Ann was a very special lady, she was gracious, kind, compassionate, considerate of others & a real pleasure to be around. She was well-natured, a very good listener & always there to lend a helping hand, to give comfort, to show love & lend a shoulder to cry on. You could always count on Ann, in the good times & bad! She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at Hanover Courthouse, Va. for 80 years & lived a good and meaningful life. What we will miss about Ann the most is her beautiful smile & humor.
