Wayne Douglas "Doug" Sale, 68, of Glen Allen, passed away on February 12, 2019. Doug was a graduate of Henrico High School and began his undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech. Doug returned to Richmond to finish his Bachelor of Science in Economics at Virginia Commonwealth University. Doug served in the Army Reserve Medical Command and spent much of his service helping out in local clinics. He later took over the family construction business, Sale Construction, which he ran for over 25 years. In addition to his work as a general contractor, Doug was also a commercial real estate developer in the metro Richmond area. He was a member of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church.
Doug was an avid fisherman, skilled guitarist, and horse racing enthusiast. He enjoyed a good game of golf, a backyard barbecue, fast cars, and a fun bet with friends.
Doug was preceded in death by brothers, Emmett Collins Sale and James Winston Sale, III; his mother, Elaine Beazley Sale; and his father, James Winston Sale, Jr. He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Sale Shock (Brandon) and Leslie Sale (Will Tucker); their mother, Cathleen Sale; two precious grandsons, Clay and Austin Shock; his sister, Rebecca Coleman; his nephew, Brad Coleman; and niece, Bridget Coleman Turpin.
Visitation will be held at Woody Funeral Home – Atlee Chapel on Sunday, February 17th, 1 to 5 p.m. A small graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Monday, February 18th at 11 a.m.
