Esther was the sixth of eight children, born to Rev. James E. and Bethel Kitty Beckum in Memphis,Tennessee. She married Ward Andrew (Andy) Warren, Jr. May 24,1956 and settled in Memphis which became her lifelong home. They were blessed with three children: Steven L. Warren, Charlotte Annette Warren Borden and Bettina Marie Warren Joyner. Esther was Gammaw to Stephanie, Adam, Ryan, Brandon and their children.
Esther was a loving daughter, wife and mother who found great joy in spending time with her family. As a pastor’s daughter she was actively involved in the Nazarene church in many ways though out her life. Esther was a writer and most enjoyed the ministry of outreach by connecting with the church family, including visitors, by sending handwritten notes. Her personal messages made an impact in ways that may never be known.
Esther’s family and friends remember her as creative, compassionate and generous with a unique sense of humor and an expertise in the art of thrifting.
Most importantly, Esther was a strong woman of faith with a deeply rooted love for her Savior, Jesus Christ as evidenced by her soft spoken kindness and calm and graceful spirit.
Her daughters, Charlotte and Tina, would like to extend their gratitude to the family and friends who were present in Esther’s life over the past three years during the transitions that took place as her health declined. Your prayers and thoughtfulness carried us as we cared for our mother. We would like to say a sincere thank you to all of the staff at Desoto Health Care in Southaven Mississippi, especially her personal care givers who treated her as family, you will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38122. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38134.
