On behalf of my mother, Florence (Gibbs) Wells, and my husband, Tim Woods and my children Austin and Cameron Woods, we offer our condolences on the loss of Aunt Lucy. She lived a long life and has seen a lot of things. I would call her from time to time and always enjoyed her family stories and hearing her recollection of historical events. I especially remember her story about the 'high waters'. She was my grandfather's sister and his last living sibling. May God bless her children who cared for her and especially her daughter Betty Jean who was there to help her transition. Glory be to God! Rest in peace Aunt Lucy

To my family in Memphis, Tennessee from "Peanie", Aunt Lizzie's daughter in California: You have our sincere.loving sympathy. We drove down there to see cousin Lucy. My children have driven and met her as well! What a blessing! She shared many memories and pictures with us and we were so blessed. We were tracing our family tree and even at this time as we have heard of our family "Gibbs" Jones, Blake and Webster! Great grandmother Sarah Gibbs we never met her but loved her intensely! Emmanual, Betty & cousin Sister (Mary) THANK YOU SO MUCH. Cousin Lucy is a worshipper and was praising our Savi our like the song says All the day long! Love always Peanie & family

I'm her great grand daughter of Mrs Lucy Stokes .My grandma
my dad mother was her oldest child Evangelist Ruby Mae Webster - Blake who preceded her in death. I love both a lot. She knew I was getting married because my Uncle Jerome told her. She was like my grandmother a true woman of God.

I just wanted to share with all my friends on Facebook etc about a very special person who made a very profound effect on my life as well as others with whom she may have come in contact with . My dear grandmother was a true Soldier for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ a true woman of God .She is the link to the Jones 's, the Webster's , the Mosby's, the. Blake's, and the Stokes. Etc. I was introduced to De. Lawd as she fondly called Him, from a baby eating. Breakfast etc on her kitchen floor from a cake pan, through out my life. Even when I was in the U.S. Air Force no matter where they sent me she knew where our relatives were with a sharp accuracy.. I would ask her how do you keep up with all those people and she would reply honey they keep up with me. I use to hear her say in her prayer " Lord I thank you for giving me a PORTION of my health and strength, so I asked her grandma what is and how much is a PORTION? She looked at me and said " just keep living and you will discover what a PORTION is" I will always love her for her wisdom and devotion to God and her family and all that would listen to her. She has gone on to rest now but I know I will see her again we all get together in Heaven what a time what a time that would be ! When I see Jesus AMEN!!
