(Rolla) Aaron Pierce, beloved son; brother; father; friend and overall wonderful person, was born on January 27, 1981 in Chester, Illinois and passed away on July 11, 2018 at the age of 37 in Merced, California. Aaron will forever be in our hearts and souls!
Aaron lived most of his life in Merced, CA. He attended school at McSwain Elementary and graduated from Atwater High School in 2000.After graduation, Aaron ventured to Yosemite National Park where he worked in the recreation department. Upon his return to Merced, Aaron worked as a forklift driver for Orchard Supply Hardware; as a builder loader for Big Creek Lumber (where he developed a passion for road cycling thanks to his boss); as a tow truck driver for AAA Merced City Tow; as a custodian for Merced City School District and as a custodian for UC Merced. As an employee; a co-worker and a friend, Aaron genuinely embraced everyone with a sincere sense of love, loyalty, and laughter. Although we’ve lost Aaron, we are left with many memories that reflect Aaron’s aura of humbleness and humor. Aaron enjoyed and cherished spending time with his son, Leiland, camping, hiking, and watching movies. Aaron was an encyclopedia of movie lines, and his delivery was always perfect in context and expression … “You’ve gotta cross over the anger bridge and come back to the friendship shore.” Aaron had a life-long connection with fishing. For Aaron, it was the perfect combination of the outdoors, reflection, fun, and connections. Fish on, Airman!
Aaron is survived by his son, Leiland Aaron Pierce and another son due in August; mother and stepfather, Nancy and John Wickler (Merced); sisters and brother-in-laws, Kimberly and Richard Suffecool (Merced) and Stephanie and Jon Schaefer (Merced); uncle and aunt, John and Tina McCrary (Georgia); aunt, Kay Cole (Merced); cousin, Tyler McCrary (Georgia); nephews, Andrew, Jacob and Nick Suffecool and Cole Schaefer; niece, Tatem Schaefer; great-nephew and great-niece, Daxon and Ellie Suffecool; and step brothers, Jason and Daniel Wickler.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rolla Kent Pierce; grandfathers and grandmothers, Rolla and Maxine Pierce and Walter and Irma McCrary; and uncle, Kenneth Cole.
