Charles “Chuck” Hora passed away at Cape Canaveral Hospital, at the age of 86. Chuck will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mae, his step-son Ron (Janice), his brother Mike (Diane), sister Mary Ann Lynn and sister-in-law Diane. Beloved Papa to Heather (Joe), Josh (Erica), and Luke (Danielle), and great-grandpa to Harper, Harrison, Josiah, Titus and Shiloh. Predeceased by his loving parents Charles and Rosalie, his brothers Robert and Jimmy, his daughter Laura, and his step-son Randy. Chuck was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 20, 1936. Chuck retired from the United States Navy at the rank of Commander. While in the Navy, Chuck and Mae lived in Naples, Italy where Chuck was in NATO as the medical planner for Italy, Greece and Turkey. They also lived in New Orleans, Louisiana and Washington, DC before moving to Clearwater, Florida. In 2012, Chuck and Mae moved to Cocoa Beach. Prior to his illness, Chuck was involved with the Gideon’s. Chuck was an avid reader. Chuck and his friends played golf, rode bikes and took up walking. One of his favorite things to do was play cards with friends and family where the game of choice was “hand and foot.” Friends and family will attend a Celebration of Life Service at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home (1360 N. Courtenay Pkwy., Merritt Island, FL 32953) on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Mims, Florida on Friday, July 29, 2022 with family only attending. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gideon’s or First Baptist Church of Cocoa would be greatly appreciated.
