Larry Wayne Myres was born on February 20, 1948 in Tempe, Arizona to the late Ruel and Rosetta Myres. He was raised in Mesa, Arizona, and attended the public school system from elementary through his high school years. Upon completion of his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served four and a half years before he was honorably discharged. He worked for the City of Mesa in the solid waste department for thirty-two years, retiring on November 27, 2002. He met Barbara Deal and the two were united in matrimony on July 4, 1996.
Larry was saved, filled and baptized with the Holy Ghost in 1992, and later worshipped at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Mesa, Arizona. Larry was family oriented, he loved being amongst family. For peace and comfort, Larry enjoyed the outdoors of fishing, camping, either alone or with family and friends. But his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After battling health challenges, on March 17, 2024, Larry was called home to glory, at the Nico Group Home Healthcare facility.
Larry was preceded in death by his parent Ruel and Rosetta Myres, and one brother, Billy Joe Myres. He leaves behind his wife Barbara Myres; four daughters: Tonya Myres-Carney of California, LaCandra Ellis (Jacqueline) of California, Melissa Deal-Branch of Alaska, and Penny of Arizona; two sons: Brian Denton Sr. (Nicole) of California, Jimmy Burns (Jessica) of Arizona; grandchildren: Brian Denton Jr., Keyshawn Denton, Mark Carney, Danielle Denton, Rachel L. Lyon, Xavier Burns, Avery Burns, and Solara Burns; great grandchildren: Brian Denton III, Malik Denton, Levon Denton, Aaliyah Denton, Natalia Denton, and Luna Eckstein; God daughter Saral Elzie,and a host of relative and friends.
A graveside home going service for Larry will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Mesa City Cemetery, 1212 North Center Street, Mesa, Arizona 85201.
