Roger was born on October 7, 1945 in Winfield, Kansas to Ronald and Betty J. Shepherd. Roger graduated from Wellington High School, Wellington, Kansas in 1963. He received his bachelor's Degree from Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma in 1968. He moved to Arizona in 1987 and has been a Gilbert, Arizonan since 1998.
On October 25, 1992 he married Cindy, his best friend and soulmate. They were married for 30 beautiful years.
Roger spent his working years in banking and sales. The past 32 years he worked for UltraChem, Inc. selling industrial chemicals. He loved his work and his faithful customers. He continued to work up to his passing. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his 8 grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching sports, with his favorite being the Arizona teams: Cardinals, Suns, and Diamondbacks. He was always a faithful Kansas City Chiefs fan as well. He and Cindy bought a motorhome to start traveling and enjoying getting away to better weather in the summer.
Roger loved working with the youth and giving them life lessons. He coached Pop Warner football, Little League baseball, and Youth basketball. He was also a youth director for his church. He always brought humor and love to everyone he touched.
Roger is survived by his loving wife Cindy; sons Shawn (Heather), Steven, and Trent (Marissa); daughter Andrea; 8 grandchildren, brother Mike, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents Ronald D. and Betty J. Shepherd, sister-in-law Margaret, and step-daughter Nikki Ogan Darr.
A Memorial Service will be held at Dayspring United Methodist Church, 1365 East Elliot Road, Tempe, Arizona 85284 on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
