Doris Margaret Schwankhart

Doris Guidry Brown Schwankhart, age 93, a native of Gheens, Louisiana and a resident of Metairie, Louisiana passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at 7:12 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in her honor.

Doris is survived by her daughter; Linda Brown Bourgeois (John), sons; David A. Brown Sr., (Jo-Marie), Philip J. Schwankhart (Christine), and Kenneth L. Schwankhart, Sr., (Jill), 24 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her late husband; Eugene L. Schwankhart, Sr., and the late Rev. Charles G. Brown, Sr., 2 children, son; Charles G. Brown, Jr., and a daughter; Beverly Brown Ryan, her parents; Clara Hotard Guidry, and father; Jean Gillis Guidry, brothers; Leverance J. Guidry, Cooper J. Guidry, Charles W. Guidry, Caston Guidry, Sr., John Paul (Jules) Guidry, Gillis E. Guidry, Edward Guidry, Herman Guidry, and Warren F. Guidry, and sisters; Carrie Guidry Miller Lagrange and Dorothy Guidry Bennett.

Doris lived a long happy life, she was a resident of Metairie Manor for the past 15 years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She dearly loved playing cards, and going to the boat (Casino).

A very special thank you goes out to her caregivers that gave their time unselfishly, Nicole, Alicia, Jill, Christine, and Jo Marie, and to the many doctors and nurses at East Jefferson, and to the wonderful ladies at the Carpenter House, “St. Joseph Hospice”.
