

Frederick M. Guice, CRE, IFAC, a certified real estate appraiser and lifelong resident of New Orleans, passed away February 25, 2012 at the age of 88. He was predeceased by his wife, Pamela Pugh Ducote Guice. He is survived by his five children, F. Miller (Deborah Davis), T. Bryan, David Nicholls, Sally Elizabeth (Kathy Eaton), Pamela Cary, his grandchildren Rebecca and Alexander Davis, his brother Gerald Pipes Guice (Anne), and a host of relatives and friends. He was the President of Stephen L. Guice & Co., Inc. until his retirement in 2003. In 1949, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, Scabbard and Blade Honor Society, and served as the Drum Major for the Tulane University Band. During WWII, he served his country in Northern Africa and Southern Europe while a member of the United States Navy. He was later commissioned in the United States Air Force and honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. He was on the faculty of Tulane University College and retired after forty years of service. He was an active community leader throughout his professional career serving as President of the New Orleans Real Estate Board in 1964. He was an active Realtor member for over 50 years. He also served as Chairman of the Central Area Council of New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, Commissioner and Chairman of the Downtown Development District, Commissioner and Secretary of the CBD Historic Landmark Commission. Mr. Guice was a life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and recipient of the William Booth Humanitarian Award. He was instrumental in the development of several community outreach projects including the Adult Rehabilitation Centers in both Orleans and Jefferson Parishes. He was the recipient of numerous citations and awards including Louisiana Realtors Association Award for Distinguished Service, George Danzinger Achievement Trophy Award from the New Orleans Real Estate Board, and the Dean Dyer Award for Teaching Excellence from Tulane University College. He was a member of various social and civic organizations including the School Board Vestry of St. Andrews Episcopal School, Boy Scout Troop 48, Alexis Club, Pendennis Club, Caliphs of Cairo, Paul Morphy Chess Club, Round Table Club and was King Octavius X. Mr. Guice’s dedication and service to the people of New Orleans through his work with the Salvation Army was fulfilling for him. He will be sadly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1031 S. Carrollton, New Orleans on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 11am until funeral time. Private burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie, Louisiana.
