John Peter Faustermann Jr.
Passed away on September 9, 2018
John Peter Faustermann, Jr. was peacefully called Home on September 9, 2018, one day before his 88th birthday. John had many ailments over his long life that he remarkably recovered from each time. His family has said for years – “God must have given you 9 lives” – and he used all of them. His final ailment was congestive heart failure, which he suffered from for 8 months. John’s wife of 61 years, Joyce Marie Vaughn Faustermann, passed just 4 days prior to him. John was a big help to his daughter in caring for Joyce and for years was concerned about his daughter having to care for Joyce by herself. Although John was on hospice, he was able to go to God with the certainty that Joyce was no longer in need of his care.
He is survived by his son, John P, Faustermann, III (Michelle); daughters, Arlene Faustermann, Charlene Faustermann, and Beth Faustermann Martinez (Johnnie); grandchildren Jerry (Blanca), Kevin, and Mary Faustermann, Lisa Faustermann Cyprian; Alexander and Cooper Haase; and Roan Faustermann; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Brenda Mandill Jewell (Walter), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his mother Alberda Smith Faustermann Mandill; father John P. Faustermann, Sr; grandson John P. Faustermann, IV; and sister Ardlyn Faustermann Waguespack (the late Murphy).
John was a hardworking husband and father who will be missed by his children and family. He served in the Army during the Korean War and had many jobs over his lifetime, including home delivery milkman for Sealtest and other dairies. John was the last home delivery milkman in the New Orleans metro area and retired his milk business on June 1, 1990. He was also a public school bus driver (Jefferson Parish Bus 413), and a newspaper delivery man for the Times Picayune/States Item.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Charlene Faustermann for her continuous, attentive and loving care of our parents who lived with her for the past 8 years. We will always appreciate your generosity toward Mom and Dad in their most trying years. We would also like to thank John’s many doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Betty Lo, Dr. Mark Effron and Carol Stark, John’s home health nurse who cared for him during the recoveries of many major illnesses in his last 5 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a joint Celebration of Life for Joyce and John at Leitz Eagan Funeral Home at 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006. Visitation will be Friday, October 12, 2018 at 5-8 pm, and on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 9-11 am, with a memorial service at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to his wife’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Arlene, it is with sorrow that I read of your parents passing away. You have been in my thoughts recently When going through a box of old mementos, I came across a note you had written long ago and the invitation you and Charlene sent inviting me to the Grace King Reunion. I appreciate your thoughtful kindness and am impressed by your devotion to your parents. You have always been a person that your parents and your old teachers could be proud.
Please extend my sympathy to your entire family,
