Aida Georgina Regina y Eduarda Molinet, had many aliases. Army wife, La perfecta, Queen Mother, and Allita were just a few of those names she would answer to. She was always the first one ready to go, the first person to RSVP, and was always on time. She outdid herself for special occasions and she had outfits for every holiday in the calendar. Allita never left the house without her faja on, baby powder, all the appropriate accessories, her hair perfectly set and half a bottle of Volupte perfume. Her cooking was exceptional with recipes that consisted of “un chin” and “mas o menos”. Allita required very few things to make her happy; scorching hot coffee, freezing cold beer, good food and laughter. Her collections of salt and pepper shakers and McDonald’s toys were only outdone by her collection of Outback Steakhouse knives. She traveled the world, made friends everywhere she went, and she was quick to taste other people’s food, even if they were strangers. She was a fearless woman who defended her family and friends relentlessly. She could sometimes be perceived as a bully, but that was simply because she was overprotective of her circle. While she might look like a sweet old grandmother, she was quick to yell out bad words and take a shot of whatever the group was drinking. She had a nickname for everyone and she knew everyone’s addresses and phone numbers by heart. She also had everyone’s birthdays written down to make sure she would call without fail. If you ask anyone who knew her, they more than likely have an anecdote about her that will make you smile because that was the type of woman she was.
While she had many important roles in peoples’ lives; her most important were wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She adored her husband and always kept his memory alive through their incredible love story. Her adoration for her daughter was like no other; they were inseparable and knew each other like the back of their hands. Her granddaughter, “la niña favorita” was always her pride and joy. She could do no wrong. She was her tail and always wanted to do things like her. So please, when you think of Allita, take a moment to smile and if possible have a drink in her name. The Queen mother will always be in our hearts.
She is survived by; daughter Aida R Vichot; granddaughter Candya Vichot Bello.
