Frederick William Herbert

He was a Combat Veteran in World War II and awarded four bronze stars for battles in Normandy, North France, Central Europe, and the Rhineland. After the war, he was a Post Commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars. He later became a flight instructor for the United States Air Force. After leaving the USAF, he went on to become an airline captain flying DC-9's for Ozark Air Lines.

Fred is survived by his wife, of 71 years, Vera Herbert and his two children, Frederick William Herbert, Jr. and Sharon Ziegler; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Midland, Texas. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Ellis Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Valhalla Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri on Monday, September 17, 2018.
