Raised in Salt Lake City by William Sterling and Pearl Langford Winegar, in a loving family with 6 other brothers and 3 sisters. Barry was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, and dear friend. A career in the banking business and a post career passion for model airplanes and Corvettes. His passion for his family left a legacy of love that will continue for generations due to his example.
Barry joined the Army and served as a Aircraft Maintenance Crew Mechanic in Panama. He married his sweetheart, Carol Jean Wheeler and spent their lives together living in Sandy, where they raised their daughter. Barry was the proud Grandpa to two grandchildren, who lived nearby and saw him often.
A cherished love story of an inseparable couple who enjoyed traveling, tending to their family, their business and pursuing their passions of scenic driving and shopping together. Inseparable until his departure, Barry was always at Jeans’ side.
Barry epitomized dependability and stability. Never missing the opportunity to reach out to his family to tell them he loved them or ask what he could do to help. His faith was always strong and he believed that we all are “forever families” of which he and Jean have beautifully engraved on their headstone.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Wheeler Winegar, daughter, Paige (Bob) Pettipaw, two grandchildren, Anna and Wyatt, and two beautiful sisters, Joan and Carol. We thank you Barry for the love, laughs and life lessons taught and look forward to seeing you again soon.
