June was a strong willed intelligent person who had a hard life - she was able to find joy with a few close friends, through travel and I hope sharing in my life. Mom took pride in whatever she did and did it well. Mom was not what people would call a "warm person" but you could count on her, you knew where she stood, she was a true friend and proudly, my mom.
Mom taught me to be fiercely independent, that the right thing to do was always the right thing to do, to be informed and proactive in personal finances, that women's equality was a right. Mom told me to find a life partner who I wanted to be with, but did not need to be with - and, of course.... that wandering and adventure was pure joy. Mom said I could do anything, if I tried my hardest. And to never forget " the squeaky wheel gets oiled".
June, Mom, lived a full life, filled with adventure. I hope all the good times helped to soften the harsh realities of her life. ❤️
