I remember looking across the classroom freshman year and wondering who was that tall, handsome, quiet guy. Imagine my surprise when, 50 years later at our high school reunion, I discovered he wasn’t so quiet at all. In fact, Gary turned out to be quite the talker! He loved telling stories about his work which he loved and took him across the country, his visits to many, many state and national parks, and his family. I think re-uniting at the reunion made us both feel 16 again! And at our age, that was a really special feeling!
He had a full life surrounded by good friends and a loving family. I will miss him. I’m thankful for knowing him. He brought smiles to my life.❤️

Surfing trips to Long Beach Island in NJ. Gary didn't surf. Instead he undertook his legendary multi-hour walks.
Not one for flying, he journeyed cross-country either by train or auto to reunite with his St. Mary's HS classmates at two recent reunions. He would have walked.

Can remember going way back to grammar school, playing tackle football at Lincoln Park/School 14 - Pine and Grove. Always a nice gentle man.

Was so sorry to hear about Gary. My memories of Gary go back to our school years at St. Mary's in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was such a nice guy, and I am so grateful that I got to see Gary and so many at our 50th School Anniversary. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and many friends.

I knew Gary from high school at St. Mary’s. He was always a pleasure to know and be with. For our 50th reunion he, Phil Samuels and I pre-celebrated when he arrived in New Jersey at Sun Tavern in Roselle Park. He will be missed.
