Jay enjoyed his yearly vegetable garden before his illness, and working in the yard up to the end of his life.
He was also full of many funny poems and sayings that were and will always be called "Jayisms".
He was a Korean War veteran and a 32nd degree Mason. But he was most proud of his grandchildren, of which he had 9, and what will soon be 10 great grandchildren.
He is survived by the love of his life for 63 years, Joan Schneider Auch, a daughter, Joan-Marie, and a son, Gregory Jay. He was predeceased by his parents, his 5 sisters and his oldest son, Howard William. He leaves several special nieces and nephews behind as well.
A remembrance of Jay’s life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital and the Salvation Army.
