Helen passed away peacefully, the evening of October 16th, at home, with her family by her side.
She was our matriarch and the rock of our family. Through life’s ups and downs she always had a positive outlook on life.
Helen was an avid traveler and took trips with friends and family over the years to China, Africa, Europe, South America, and domestically. She fostered a close, tight knit family and we traveled and vacationed together as a family. In addition to traveling, she loved singing & dancing, bowling, movies and theater. In her later years she and Marsha were active together in the Radical Fringe Chapter of the Red Hat Society.
In a nutshell she was active, daring, funny and loving, and she had a spark for life that she passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two of her four children, Robert Zaret and Marsha Nelson, as well as 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many many cousins from Los Angeles to New York and Florida.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her honor to any of a number of wonderful cancer research charities. While Helen was not taken by cancer, she did lose two children and many other family members over the years to various cancers.
A graveside service for Helen will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, 2:00PM at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA.
