Alene Carmichael Powell, age 95, a former resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away August 5, 2018 in a nursing facility in the Birmingham area. Mrs. Powell was born in Birmingham on February 8, 1923. She was a retired telecommunications clerk from South Central Bell, now AT&T in Mobile. She was a long time member of Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents Ambrose and Margaret Carmichael, her husband, Joseph Herman Powell, and her son Carl Ambrose Powell. She is survived by a granddaughter Christine Powell Shobe, a great-granddaughter, a great-grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Interment will take place at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road in Theodore immediately afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church, 2519 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, Alabama 36607.
