Bama Thornton, 68, died Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in Daphne. She was a longtime resident of the White House Fork Community where she raised four children. Thornton worked for more than 40 years at Providence Hospital in Mobile and spent many years as a hairdresser, often performing work in her or other people’s home. She was loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.
She is survived by her four children including daughters Kathleen Lois Chambless, Tina Chambless Covington (Neal), Linnie Christina Buxton, all of Bay Minette; son, Tony Buxton (Shannon) of Saraland; two brothers, Chris Thornton of Mobile and Dodson Thornton of New Orleans, La.; one sister, Linnie Baird of Houston, TX; 14 grandchildren: Anthony Findley, Heather Findley, Morgan Covington, Matthew Covington, Emily Boykin, Nathan Buxton, Leah Chastang, Jada Dunn, Gary Wade Wise, Hunter Graham, Taylor Graham, Madison Bryars, Abigale Parker and Lucas Bryars; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lois Campbell Thornton and Dodson Leon Thornton; one brother, Johnny Thornton and one sister, Theresa West.
Visitation will take place 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. The funeral service begins at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, at White House Fork Baptist Church on Baldwin County 39 and burial follows at Old Cooper Cemetery in Robertsdale.
