Cordelia Pearl Majure

October 16, 1933November 17, 2021

Cordelia “Deede” Baucum Majure, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Deede was born to Charles Hughdie Baucum Sr. and Eva Crane Baucum on October 16, 1933 in Newton, MS. She married the love of her life, Dorn Ralph Majure, Sr. in 1951, and raised five wonderful children with him. When Dorn became ill and passed in 1989, Deede decided she needed a college degree to support herself – which led to her graduating with a Bachelors of Education from the University of Mobile on the same day as her daughter Nancy. Deede was an absolutely beautiful soul. She always put others before herself, especially her family, and made abundant sacrifices to do so. Deede was a member of Riverside Baptist Church for 32 years, where she actively and enthusiastically taught Sunday School. She had an ironclad love for God, and spent her life serving Him. Deede was loved by many, and will be greatly missed.

Deede was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Dorn Ralph Majure, Sr.; son, Rodney Hugh Majure; her parents; and one sister, Mae Baucum Tutor.

She is survived by her children, Ginger M. Keen, Dorn Ralph Majure, Jr., Ed Majure (Cathy), and Nancy Lynn Majure (Shelley); six grandchildren, Stephanie Jepko (James), Dorn “Trey” Ralph Majure, III (Katie), Lauren Majure Reynolds (Kyle), Lindsay Caroline Beasley (Nathan), Marguerite “Maggie” Cordelia Majure, and Dayne “Truett” Majure; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Baucum Jr. (Patty); sisters, Faye Foster and Sue Williams; daughter-in-law, Mary Claire Majure; brother-in-law, Bob Tutor; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.

Visitation for Deede will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or to Riverside Baptist Church.

have a memory or condolence to add?

I remember Mrs. Majure as a kind and generous person who loved her family dearly and was very proud of them. When I was in school in Mobile, I had occasion to visit in her home and she treated me with great respect. She was a wonderful lady and her children's love and devotion to her reflects that.

My deepest condolences to Ginger, Ed, Dorn, and Nancy. God be with you during your time of grief. Losing mom is one of the hardest losses. Love to all of you.
