Hazel grew up in Jackson and later moved to Miami to work as a secretary at the University of Miami. It was in Miami that Hazel met her late husband, Bob Woodmansee. Hazel and Bob raised 3 daughters. They loved to travel and eat fine food.
Hazel was a volunteer at the Hobbs, NM Library for many years. She and Bob moved back to Mobile over 20 years ago to be closer to their daughters. Hazel was an avid follower of Jeopardy. Inspired by a beloved group of friends who nicknamed themselves “the frogs”, she has over the years collected hundreds of decorative frogs.
Hazel was predeceased by her husband of almost 70 years, Robert A. Woodmansee.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda, Carla, and Donna Woodmansee, as well as 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
She will be interred at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort with Bob. The symbol on their marker is an egret representing their love of birds and the beauty of nature.
