James Shubbie Phillips

Mr. James Shubbie Phillips - a native of Lower Peachtree, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 65 years, died Monday, November 21, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Madison Phillips and Virgie Wilson Whearley Phillips; two brothers, John Madison Phillips and Jesse Ernest Phillips; and two sisters, Annie Kate Martin and Margie Miller. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nita Phillips; six children, Sherry (Robert) Byrd, Terry (Peggy) Phillips, Tony (Brenda) Phillips, Tracy Phillips, Mike (Debbi) Phillips, and Wendy (Ed) Shepherd; one brother, Henry Wilson (Delores) Phillips; seven grandsons, four granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren, two special nephews, Dr. Gerry Phillips and Doug Phillips; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mr. Phillip's family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Springhill Home Health and Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, November 25, 2011 from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 2 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sage Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
