Katie Callaghan Jernigan, a native Irish Mobilian, born May 20, 1942, died on November 9, 2012. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa D. Beuk and Sheila J. (Damian) Colvin, one brother, Patrick Callaghan, two grandsons, Michael C. Beuk and Patrick Garrett Colvin, one granddaughter, Elizabeth L. (Seth) Starkey, one great-granddaughter, Evelyn S. Starkey, her beloved dog, Woodrow, many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceeded in death by her mother and father, Woodrow and Catherine Callaghan, son, James Michael Beuk, one brother, Woodrow (Sonny) Callaghan, Sr. She and her family owned Callaghan’s Irish Grill from its origination in 1946-2001. She loved Callaghan’s, met so many friends throughout the years, and without fail, made sure to thank every customer for coming by. She was dutifully loyal to her job and co-workers at the Mobile County Courthouse, retiring in 2003 after over 35 years of service. Assisting others in her career gave her pure joy, seeing them rise to success pleased her to no end. She loved her Historic Dauphin Way friends and neighbors, where she resided for the past 40 years. Visitation will be on Sunday at Radney Funeral Home from 4 until 7 PM. The Rosary will be recited at 7 PM. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 1 P.M.. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Capital Improvement Fund.
