He was born in Union County on August 19, 1928, son of the late Simon and Bessie Privette. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Privette and Guy Privette.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Catherine R. Privette; his sons, David Privette (Vicki), and Jeffrey Privette (Kitty); his daughters, Amy Schallenkamp (Dan) and Laura West (Danny); his grandchildren, Shannon McSwain (Brandon), Mark Privette, Kristin Byrum (Aaron), Keri Wetherington (Ryan), Patrick Schallenkamp, Matthew Schallenkamp, Emily West and Carson West; and his six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 9, 2018 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Sardis Baptist Church in Indian Trail. A service to celebrate Ray's life will begin at 2:00pm with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
