

Amelia Dodd Lawley “Amy”, 95, a long-time resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on December 13, 2016. She was a supportive military wife to her husband of 56 years, William Robert Lawley Jr., who was a Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. They traveled the world together before he retired from the military in January 1973, and settled in Montgomery, Alabama. Amy also had an impressive career of her own. She proudly served the Alabama State Senate as Chief Clerk for over 15 years and was a past state president and member of Chapter G/AL P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Amy was predeceased by her Parents, one Brother, one Sister, and her husband, William Robert Lawley, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Steve) Decker, Anne (Alex) Sheftic, and William Robert (Jeanine) Lawley III; grandchildren, Gretchen Decker and husband David Shoham, Joshua (Grace) Decker, Dana (Sammie) Sheftic, Meaghan (Chris) Calverley, and Alyson Lawley; 4 Great-Grandchildren; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, on December 16, 2016 from 1:00pm-2:00pm, with a Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 2:00pm with Doug Smith officiating. A Graveside Service will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Eighth Air Force Museum in Savannah, GA or P.E.O. Foundation through P.E.O. International.
