Clifford Preston Salyer, 81, formerly a resident of Hope Hull, Alabama and Ramona, California, passed away July 1, 2014. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky to Henry and Mary Salyer. Clifford grew up in Ashland, Kentucky. He served as a combat crew member in the United States Air Force, as a gunner in a B-29, B-50 and B-52, and upon retirement moved to San Diego, California where he worked for Rohr Industries as a computer systems analyst. He is survived by his wife Donna of 62 years, daughter Valarie (Michael) Forster, son Clifford (Carson) Salyer, daughter Bridget (Tracy) Sabin, son Ken (Lori) Salyer, daughter Beth (Marc) Baluda, sister Sallie (Jim) Hook and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mary Salyer, his brothers, John Salyer, Joe Henry Salyer, and Ron Salyer and his granddaughter Taylor Gaston. A funeral service will be held at Hope Hull United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Charles Smith officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Hope Hull Women’s Club located next door to the church. Internment will be at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama at 2:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made online to the Fisher House Foundation or at Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850-5168.
