James Conard Owens

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerrel Owens, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Tindal, and his son-in-law Steve Williams, Jr. James is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Debbie Owens; his four daughters and their families, Christine Murphy, her husband Michael and their children, Ryan, Mikey, and Bella; Jaime Hillis, her husband Kerry and their children, Haley, Molly, Hayden, and Huntley; Brittany Williams, her husband James Cote and their children Natalie, Naomi, Ethan, and Stella; and Amanda Owens and her children Cadence and Abby Claire; his mother, Amey L. Owens; his siblings, Jerry Owens (Sandra), Jennifer Owens (Sherman), Linda Kay Owens, and Jay Owens; several aunts and uncles, and a host of nieces and nephews.

James was a dedicated employee for 44 years at W.S. Newell where his coworkers became his family and a faithful member of Burkville Memorial United Methodist Church. James loved riding his motorcycle and traveling the country. He was a friend to everyone and had a giving heart. James was a loving husband to his wife, father to his daughters, grandfather to his grandchildren and friend to many.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will begin at 2:15 pm at Alabama Heritage Cemetery with Rev. Cliff Cobb officiating. Sam Newell, Keith Newell, James Lee, Jeremy Owens, Evan Furr, JD Dorman, James Cote, and Kerry Hillis will serve as pallbearers. Lamar Hall, Bob Gardner, and the staff of W.S. Newell will serve as honorary pallbearers. As James was a simple man please come as you are, casual.
